Development Commencement Extensions
The City of Calgary is reviewing its bylaws related to development commencement extensions and are looking for your input! When a decision is made on a development permit there is a set date to start construction, referred to as the date of commencement. The date is set at two to three years after approval, depending on the land use district. For most developments it is either two or three years. read on for more information.
Re-villaging the City: Creating New Models for Modern Life hosted by City Repair Calgary!
City Repair Calgary will be organizing three exciting events in early March with internationally-renowned architect and placemaker Mark Lakeman. Mark’s extensive volume of work focuses on creating inclusive cities for all. Most recently, he has been part of the Village Coalition in Portland, focusing on designing villages and sleeping pods for homeless people, and changing negative perspectives in order to find land and partner organizations to facilitate safe shelter creation. Draft Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP)
For the past two years the City of Calgary and the M.D. of Foothills have been working to update the existing 1998 Intermunicipal Development Plan. The Draft is now up for review!
Circulation package updates
As of February 1st, 2017 the name and contact information of the parcel owner or contact information of the applicant will no longer be included with the application sheets or circulation packages. These changes are in accordance with the current Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.
Applicant’s Planning Overview
Update to circulations. Community Associations will be receiving the Applicant’s Planning Overview with their circulation package for Backyard suites and New Single Detached, Semi-detached, and Duplex Dwellings in the Developed Area. The purpose of this Overview is to assist communities when responding to a request for comments from The City.
