The City is currently reviewing its Residential Parking Permit Program to find learn how the current program is meeting your needs. The City is looking to improve customer service, increase long-term financial stability, and ensure that our streets are used efficiently. Residential Parking impacts homeowners/renters, as well as people visiting homes, stores, schools, or other commercial spaces.
What is Residential Permit Parking and How are Zones Determined?
Residential Permit Parking is used to restrict parking in a specific community from those who don’t live in the area. Once a restriction is in place, residents are able to get permits for their vehicles. Residents can also obtain visitor permits. Through a petition process, residents are able to determine what restrictions should apply to their community. How Do I Get Involved?
The City currently has a survey for Calgarians to share their experiences with the Residential Permit Parking program until January 17th. There are also five in-person engagement sessions taking place in January. They can be registered on the same page as the survey.
Next Steps
The City will share their What We Heard report in March 2019. They will then develop new Residential Parking Permit options and share them in June 2019. Finally, based on feedback from Calgarians, they will present their recommendations to a Committee of Council in Fall 2019 and Council in early 2020.
