A message from the City
The City is seeking City Council approval on the ultimate Green Line vision, which includes the full alignment, plans for city-shaping, transit oriented development policy, and more. As a result, many public events are being hosted throughout the month of June. Throughout the month, the project team will be in communities along the line to share details of Stage 1 of construction and to talk about what will be presented to City Council at the end of the month. An event in the Beltline on June 15 will present the details of the recommended alignment that will connect Victoria Park and Inglewood/Ramsay. There are 10 events planned, so be sure to click here to find the one nearest you.
Upcoming meetings of Committee and Council
Administration is taking the full Green Line vision to several Standing Policy Committees and City Council this month. Members of the public are welcome to submit letters or speak at the public hearing portion of each Committee meeting. Please note that the City Council meeting on June 26 does not have a public hearing component. SPC and Council meetings are as follows:
• June 7 – SPC for Community and Protective Services. The team will be presenting the City Shaping Framework, a plan for how to bring services and programs like recreation centres, libraries and medical services closer to Calgarians living along the alignment.
• June 14 – SPC for Planning and Urban Development. The team will be presenting the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Implementation Strategy, a plan for how to implement TOD principles and put into action the feedback collected from community members during the charrette process along the Green Line alignment.
• June 21 – SPC for Transportation and Trains. The team will be presenting the final route alignment and station locations, as well as a plan for how to integrate the Green Line into communities. The framework will provide some guidance on how the alignment should operate, while maintaining each community's character and identity.
• June 26 – Meeting of City Council. The team will bring all the Committee presentations together for a comprehensive report to City Council.
