MDP Updates - Redline Version

The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Calgary Transportation Plan (CTP) are Calgary’s long-range land use and transportation plans that look 60 years into the future. These plans are currently under review, as the city has changed since they were first created back in 2009.

The proposed changes, as well as some other supporting documents, are now online at:

Here are some of the key documents to look at, and where you will find them:

Under the “Findings of the Review” tab you will find:

  • State of the City report
    • This report looks at if the city is on track to meet its MDP targets and looks at best practices from across the world.
  • Summary Document
    • This document lists the various planning and policy work underway which will support the MDP and CTP, such as the Guidebook for Great Communities, Multi-Community Plans, and Land Use Bylaw renewal.

Under the “Proposed Amendments” tab you will find:

  • Summary of Proposed Revisions
    • This document summarizes the proposed changes to the MDP and CTP.
  • MDP Redline and CTP Redline
    • These documents are the line by line detailed proposes changes. Some key sections to review on the MDP Redline document would be sections 2.2 (Shaping a more compact urban form) and 2.3 (Creating great communities).
