A message from the City of Calgary

Update on sports ramps on private residential properties NM2015-14

The City has been  talking to Calgarians about the size and noise of sports ramps, and whether or not they should be allowed on residential parcels without a development permit. Reporting back findings are posted on calgary.ca/sportsramps

Amendments are proposed to the Community Standards Bylaw (CSB) to address noise.  Proposed Land Use Bylaw (LUB) regulations will facilitate sports ramp activities at a home based scale and mitigate visual impacts through proposed rules for size and locations (back yard). If the rules are met, a Development Permit may not be required.  Once directed by Council, Land Use Bylaw amendments will include further community consultation before they go to the Calgary Planning Commission and Council for a public hearing.

The City’s findings and recommendations will be presented at the June 1, Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services. This is a public meeting and you are welcome to attend. The report and agenda will be available on May 27. If you would like to present at the meeting, this brochure may assist you to communicate with Council and its Committees
